How I Clean My Make-up Brushes

Hello Everyone!

This is a post on how I clean my make-up brushes. If you have any questions, feel free to leave it in the comments below:).

To clean my brushes I use anti bacterial soap to prevent spreading spots and olive oil for the brushes that are harder and more stubborn to clean I use a drop of olive oil.

First I lay a towel on top of the toilet lid to put the wet brushes onto.

I then select a brush, this brush isn't particularly dirty so I just soaked it with Luke warm water and used one pump of soap, swirled it around my hand until the soap was lathered and the brush looked clean.

swirl in hand until soap has lathered

Soak brush in Luke warm water

Rinse soap off of the brush

After that I rinse the brush under the Luke warm water making sure that all the soap is gone by squeezing the bristles together to see if soap seeps out and re rinsing if there are bubbles still in the brush.

Then I place the wet brush onto a dry towel and leave it to dry overnight.

This next brush is the brush that I use for my foundation so it is a little bit trickier to remove all of the product from it, so I still use soap but I put a tiny bit of olive oil in my hand along with the soap to help break down the product but, if you do use oil on your make up brushes please make sure that you thoroughly rinse it off of the brush with soap because if any oil is left on it after a while the oil will travel down the brush and dissolve the glue. unfortunately I learnt this the hard way.

To clean the brush that I use for lipstick, I wet the brush and put some neat olive oil in my palm so that the lipstick thoroughly gets broken down and can be easily removed. I swirl the brush in my hand the same way I did with the others, then I wash out the oil with soap and water repeating if needed.

I also clean my eyebrow "grooming" brush because foundation and eyebrow pencil often gets in it. I clean this brush the same way I clean all of the others, with soap and Luke warm water. This also applies for my eye make-up brushes and any other brush I have.

I place all of the wet brushes onto a clean dry towel and move them to my room where I will then leave them to dry over night, making sure they are slightly tilted with bristles pointing to the floor so that the water doesn't run down to the glue and melt it.

So! this is how I clean my make-up brushes, I hope some of you found this useful. Feel free to leave any comments or suggestions for more blog posts.
